Indications

Cimetidine Tablets are H2-receptor antagonists that reduce stomach acid production and are used for the treatment and prevention of various acid-related gastrointestinal disorders, including:

Peptic Ulcer Disease (PUD)

Treats and prevents gastric ulcers and duodenal ulcers by reducing excessive stomach acid.

Aids in ulcer healing and helps prevent recurrence.

Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) & Acid Reflux

Treats chronic heartburn, acid regurgitation, and difficulty swallowing caused by GERD.

Reduces inflammation and damage to the esophagus due to repeated exposure to stomach acid (erosive esophagitis).

Helps prevent chronic complications such as Barrett's esophagus and esophageal ulcers.

Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome

Used to control excessive stomach acid production in patients with gastrin-secreting tumors (gastrinoma).

Stress Ulcers & Ulcer Prevention

Prevents stress-related ulcers in hospitalized patients or those at risk due to severe illness, burns, trauma, or major surgery.

Non-Ulcer Dyspepsia (Indigestion & Functional Dyspepsia)

Relieves symptoms of chronic stomach discomfort, bloating, nausea, and excessive acid secretion, especially in patients without an underlying ulcer.

Used as part of combination therapy with antacids or prokinetic drugs for enhanced symptom relief.

Acid-Related Conditions in Long-Term NSAID Users

Protects the stomach lining in patients using nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), reducing the risk of gastric irritation and ulcers.

Prevention of Aspiration Pneumonia (Mendelson's Syndrome)

Used preoperatively to reduce gastric acid volume, minimizing the risk of aspiration pneumonia during anesthesia.
