A: It is used to treat bacterial infections, such as chest infections (including pneumonia) and dental abscesses. It can also be used together with other antibiotics and medicines to treat stomach ulcers. It's often prescribed for children, to treat ear infections and chest infections.

A: Each amoxicillin capsule, with yellow opaque cap and body, contains 250 mg or 500 mg amoxicillin as the trihydrate. The 250 mg capsule is imprinted AMOX 250 on one side and GG 848 on the other side; the 500 mg capsule is imprinted AMOX 500 on one side and GG 849 on the other side.

A: Tablets have a longer shelf life and come in a variety of forms. They can also accommodate a higher dose of an active ingredient than a capsule. They tend to be slower acting and, in some cases, may disintegrate unevenly in your body. Capsules act quickly and most, if not all, of the drug is absorbed.

A: Amoxicillin interacts with medications like warfarin, allopurinol, and probenecid. It can also cause trouble with alcohol and interact with live vaccines for cholera and typhoid. To prevent interactions, make sure to give your healthcare provider and pharmacist your most current medication list.

A: Amoxicillin is used to treat certain infections caused by bacteria, such as pneumonia; bronchitis (infection of the airway tubes leading to the lungs); and infections of the ears, nose, throat, urinary tract, and skin.

A: Although amoxicillin takes effect in a couple of hours, it takes some time for your body to clear your infection and for you to start feeling better. It takes about 24 to 72 hours for many people to notice an improvement in their symptoms.
