Indications

Cefoperazone Sodium and Sulbactam Sodium for Injection is a broad-spectrum antibiotic combination designed to combat severe bacterial infections. Cefoperazone, a third-generation cephalosporin, provides strong antibacterial activity, while Sulbactam, a β-lactamase inhibitor, enhances its efficacy against resistant pathogens. This combination is particularly effective against a wide range of Gram-positive, Gram-negative, and anaerobic bacteria. The main indications include:

Severe Intra-abdominal Infections

Used in the treatment of intra-abdominal infections such as peritonitis, appendicitis, and cholecystitis, particularly when caused by a broad spectrum of bacterial pathogens, including anaerobic organisms.

01

Respiratory Tract Infections

Effective in treating severe respiratory tract infections, including pneumonia, lung abscesses, and bronchitis, particularly those caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

02

Complicated Urinary Tract Infections (cUTIs)

Indicated for complicated UTIs, including pyelonephritis, cystitis, and urosepsis, caused by Escherichia coli, Enterococcus faecalis, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

03

Gynecological Infections

Prescribed for the treatment of gynecological infections such as pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), endometritis, and gynecological abscesses, particularly those involving mixed aerobic and anaerobic bacteria.

04

Skin and Soft Tissue Infections

Used in the management of severe skin and soft tissue infections, including cellulitis, abscesses, and wound infections, especially those caused by Staphylococcus aureus (including MRSA) and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

05

Sepsis and Bacteremia

Effective in treating bloodstream infections, including sepsis and bacteremia, particularly in cases involving Gram-negative pathogens such as Pseudomonas species and Escherichia coli.

06

Post-Surgical Infections

Administered as a prophylactic measure in surgical procedures, including abdominal, gastrointestinal, and pelvic surgeries, to prevent infections caused by both aerobic and anaerobic bacteria.
