Indications
Heparin Sodium Injection is primarily used as an anticoagulant to prevent and treat thromboembolic disorders. It is indicated for:
Prevention of Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) and Pulmonary Embolism (PE):
Used in patients undergoing major surgeries, including orthopedic surgery, abdominal surgery, and neurosurgery.
Prevents the formation of blood clots in patients who are at high risk due to immobility, such as prolonged bed rest.
Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS)
Heparin is utilized in the management of unstable angina and non-ST elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI) to prevent the formation of new clots or to reduce the size of existing ones, often in combination with other thrombolytic therapies.
Hemodialysis
Used to prevent clotting during hemodialysis procedures. Heparin Sodium acts to maintain the patency of the dialysis circuit by preventing the clotting of blood inside the dialyzer.
Atrial Fibrillation (AF)
In AF patients, Heparin Sodium is used to prevent thromboembolic events such as stroke, by inhibiting the formation of clots due to the stasis of blood in the atria.
